Empowering Women in Nigeria through SHE LEADS

SKAARHOJ ApS proudly sponsors the SHE LEADS initiative - a program helping women in Nigeria rebuild their lives after escaping human trafficking. In a country where hundreds of thousands of women are trafficked each year, SHE LEADS equips survivors from local safehouses with practical training in tailoring, catering, and hairdressing, alongside education in leadership, entrepreneurship, and self-worth.

The program provides a path to independence, enabling women to earn a living, support their families, and serve as role models in their communities. It also creates local employment for teachers and frees up capacity in safehouses to help new women in need.

In 2025, SKAARHOJ ApS sponsored SHE LEADS by doubling the private fundraising result for the project.

Education Project in Pakistan

Through a trusted Danish foundation, SKAARHOJ ApS supports an education initiative for children of families working under bonded labor conditions outside Lahore, Pakistan.

In these communities, parents and children alike are tied to brick factory work due to unpayable debts - a system that often traps entire families for generations. The project brings hope by providing free schooling, basic education, and care for the children, giving them a chance to break the cycle of poverty and exploitation.

SKAARHOJ’s support covers approximately a quarter of the school’s total operating costs, ensuring that around 25 children can attend classes every day, learn to read and write, and dream of a future beyond the factories.

Global Child Protection through Viva

SKAARHOJ ApS supports Viva - an international organisation dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children around the world. Viva works by connecting and strengthening local grassroots initiatives and church networks, helping them provide education, protection, and care where it’s needed most.

Rather than operating as a single charity, Viva empowers hundreds of local partners to collaborate, share knowledge, and create sustainable solutions for children at risk. This approach ensures that change comes from within the communities themselves.

Our support for Viva is rooted in a long-standing relationship. Kasper Skårhøj, the founder of SKAARHOJ, has known Patrick McDonald - who founded Viva in 1992 - for many years, and has personally supported the work since its early days. Today, that commitment continues through SKAARHOJ’s ongoing contribution, helping give children safety, opportunity, and hope for a brighter future.
