FAQ

Got a question about SKAARHOJ controllers? Whether you are setting up a PTZ control system for the first time, configuring a broadcast surface for live news, or integrating SKAARHOJ into an existing production workflow, you will find the most common questions and answers right here.

What is Blue Pill?

Blue Pill is our signature system that serves as the “brain” for all SKAARHOJ controllers. It is essentially a dedicated mini computer running our Reactor software, which is used for setting up and managing your controllers. Thanks to Blue Pill, SKAARHOJ controllers are fully IP-enabled and do not require an external computer to run. This means you only need a single Ethernet cable per controller, you gain improved stability and flexibility, and you avoid software installs and USB cables altogether.

What is Reactor?

Reactor is SKAARHOJ’s web-based control software running on Blue Pill. It is used to manage SKAARHOJ panels and third-party devices, organize projects and configurations, and create automations that tie your entire production setup together.

Frequently asked Questions

Are SKAARHOJ controllers plug-and-play or do they require complex setup?

Most SKAARHOJ controllers are close to plug-and-play thanks to a vast library of pre-made configurations for popular cameras, switchers, routers and other devices. In many cases, you simply select the device you want to control, enter its IP address, and you are ready to go. You can start with the default configuration and adapt it to your needs in the Configuration section of Reactor, or create a brand-new configuration from scratch when you need something highly customized.

Do I need a computer or software to use a SKAARHOJ product?

No dedicated computer or installed software is required, because every SKAARHOJ panel with Blue Pill Inside runs our Reactor software through a built-in web interface. You simply open a browser, connect to the panel’s IP address, and configure your devices and layouts directly from there. For convenience, we also offer an optional SKAARHOJ Discovery App, which helps you quickly find and manage SKAARHOJ devices on your network.

Can I use one SKAARHOJ controller to manage multiple devices and workflows?

Yes, SKAARHOJ controllers are designed to act as centralized control systems for multiple devices and even multiple workflows. With Reactor you can create projects for different shows or locations, build macros and scenes that span across devices, and switch between sports, church, conference and other productions with just a few clicks.

How do I create custom configurations?

You can create custom configurations using Reactor user interface. You can learn more about this process reading our Reactor Manual and watching our videos
